As Faulty As We Are

‘As Faulty As We Are’ is an ongoing project of contemporary portraits using the historic photographic medium of Wet-Plate Collodion. The process, being over a century old, is in its essence flawed, with artifacts appearing on the sensitized glass plates quite unpredictably. The people that serve as the subject matter for this series are often considered ‘faulty’, and as such, blend organically with the process to reveal their true character. This rawness and intimate transparency serves to confront the viewer’s perceptions of sociological acceptance and the manner in which they perceive and reveal themselves.
